A Day in the Salt Marsh

Fifth grade students had an amazing and engaging opportunity to experience pioneer life during the 1800s. They got to plan a trip to the West and learn about the hardships many had to face as they looked for a better life.

Twin Day!

Students were able to dress like twins or even triplets. Many of them showed great school spirit by dressing alike. Some students took this opportunity to support causes that they believe are important. For example, three boys dressed in support of Breast Cancer by wearing a pink cancer awareness shirt.

Students Learn About EcoAlebrijes

Students had an opportunity to learn about EcoAlebrijes which is recognized as one of Mexico's folk art. A Oaxacan artist came into the classrooms to answer questions and teach them more about the importance of EcoAlebrijes to their communities. Students were able to see and touch them. Additionally, Las Flores members were given the opportunity to paint an EcoAlebrije.
