After School Programs
Communities Organizing Resources to Advance Learning (CORAL)
CORAL is an expanded learning program offered at McKinley Elementary School. Our mission is to improve the literacy of every student by implementing best practices in after school support. The program focuses on three areas of support: literacy, homework and physical activity, also known as CORAL Moves. We also implement Art and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) activities.

NorCal Hits (USTA)-Students engage & learn how to play tennis, while obtaining their own rackets provided by the USTA; developing their skills & eventually being able to participate in onsite tournaments.

Verve Lacrosse
The McKinley Project was envisioned on January 2017 by the founders of Verve Lacrosse as an outreach opportunity. It was our vision to bring lacrosse to any girl who desired to play. It was our vision to provide an athletic outlet to all girls in our neighboring communities. It was our vision to fully equip these girls completely to play lacrosse successfully and meaningfully. It was our vision to support, encourage and embolden our girls to be self-advocating, confident and fierce competitors. It was our vision to create a space where confidence is beautiful. These girls are our daughters, friends and neighbors who deserve a place to grow and thrive and be competitive.
Our lacrosse players at McKinley are now a part of the Northern California Junior Lacrosse Association (NCJLA) playing in games on the weekends against other NCJLA teams from February through May. Any girl in 3rd through 6th grade may join the team at any time during the season. It is a free program to all McKinley girls which includes all equipment, uniforms and league fees. Our McKinley girls, run by head coach Lauren Wingerden, practice twice a week at McKinley to prepare for weekend games at McKinley in a fully competitive and enriching lacrosse environment. Come join us!!
