Third graders at McKinley Elementary participated in a Shop with a Cop assembly to find out which students earned the December Shopping Spree. Students were recognized for growing 100 points or more between the Beginning of Year and Trimester 1 on the RenSTAR Reading assessment. Students were also recognized for demonstrating a growing appreciation of reading and becoming life-long readers.
The following students have earned the opportunity to participate in breakfast with a law enforcement officer as well as a shopping spree at Target:

On December 4th the students listed above were paired up with an officer, treated to a special breakfast, a visit with Santa and were lead into a local Target store to complete their shopping sprees. The officers helped the students keep track of their spending and they formed great bonds with their new friends. Congratulations to all of the students that worked hard on their reading and earned this amazing opportunity, we are so proud of you and know that you will continue to improve your reading skills!
